Newfound Identity
Luke 1:31–33
31 And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.
Almost 3 years ago, I hit my version of rock bottom. Little did I know, that was my ultimate blessing because our Messiah was that rock at the bottom, and He built me back up in love and TRUTH. I was truly reborn at the age of 27 (i’m 29 now) and I am a brand new creation. I’m no longer in bondage, no longer suffering from a lack of knowledge. I follow Messiah as he follows the Father, and I know where I come from: Zion. I am a spiritual seed of Abraham, an heir to the promise. I am Jacob/Israel. Don’t worry, I’ll give my full testimony at a later time.
What a lot of us don’t realize is, if you’re a child of the Most High and a follower of Messiah, your identity changes. Scripture tells us you are what your father is. Nevertheless, the bride (us) and the husband (Messiah) become one flesh and identify by one name (Genesis 2:24). Messiah is the head, we are the body. The head and body cannot be different, or that body becomes unfunctional. Our Messiah descended from the tribe of Judah (Jew for short), and the tribe of Judah descended from Israel.
According to Luke 31-33, our Messiah is king over the house of Jacob; ISRAEL. We are supposed to be born again and grafted into Israel. Scripture makes it very clear that The Most High, our Heavenly Father has one nation, one chosen people:
[Exodus 9:1 KJV] 1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
[Deuteronomy 7:6 KJV] 6 For thou [art] an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that [are] upon the face of the earth.
[Psalm 135:4 KJV] 4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, [and] Israel for his peculiar treasure.
[1 Peter 2:9 KJV] 9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
[Matthew 15:24 KJV] 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.[2 Corinthians 11:22 KJV] 22 Are they Hebrews? so [am] I. Are they Israelites? so [am] I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so [am] I.
Before receiving the truth, I identified as a Christian as most do. I do not have a problem with Christians, we are all brothers and sisters. But, there’s a lot of error in the church and manmade traditions that aren’t biblical.
Although I was baptized and began to seek my relationship with our Heavenly Father and our Savior, for a long time (years) I was still ignorantly in a lot of error. I was in error because I didn’t know then that once I accepted Messiah as my Savior, being baptized and receiving the gift of salvation that I now had to be obedient to and revere the covenant the Most High established in the Old Testament given to the nation of Israel, the seed of Jacob, His chosen. Christianity teaches us that the Law/Torah is only for the Jews, which is just short for Judah, (what about the other 11 tribes?), but Scripture teaches that its one people, one law, and the law is not done away with, (just the Levitical sacrificial system due to the perfect atoning sacrifice of our Savior):
[Numbers 15:15-16 NIV] 15 The community is to have the same rules for you and for the foreigner residing among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the foreigner shall be the same before the LORD: 16 The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the foreigner residing among you.' "
[Matthew 22:37-40 NIV] 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."[Ecclesiastes 12:13 NIV] 13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
The Most High’s law, commandments, rules and statutes can be summed up into one word: Torah. The Torah is what was given at Mount Sinai to Moses to give to the Israelites. It was given for our righteousness (Deuteronomy 4:8, 6:25). It exposed our sinful nature (Romans 3:19,20). Sin existed from the beginning and if the Torah wasn’t given sin would have been committed unknowingly and whether we sin unknowingly or not, it still is subject to judgment. But our Father extended His grace and gave us the chance to be aware of all iniquity, to turn away (repent) from them and continue on the path of righteousness. His Torah is the standards of citizenship, instructions to be worthy of accessing the New Heaven to come. It is our instructions for how we are to keep our oil in our lamps and our dress rehearsal instructions for the marriage of the Lamb when the Son of Man returns for us, his bride!
I have so many more posts to come about this subject, but for now, I will leave it at this. Prayerfully this planted the seed to encourage you to seek out this matter for yourself. Go humbly to the Father and ask Him to send His Helper, His Spirit (John 14:26) to come into your life and teach you all the Word says. I pray He removes the veil from your eyes, and that you begin to worship Him in spirit and truth. Shalam.
[Revelation 14:12 KJV] 12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
[John 4:23-24 KJV] 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
[Revelation 19:7 NIV] Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
